WhatsApp Group Calling for up to 4 people

WhatsApp first added voice calling feature back in March 2015, and then introduced video calling in November the following year. The Facebook-owned App has rolled out a group calling feature.

The feature was previously only available to a select few users, but it’s now rolling out to the wider world. Beginning from now, you will have the ability to make group calls with up to four individuals in total — over video or voice.

And WhatsApp asserts that group calls are entirely encrypted, exactly like text messages delivered over the service. Additionally, it means you will not need to waste voice minutes on group calls, since WhatsApp heaps your conversations across the web instead.

WhatsApp clarified;

“Group calls are always end-to-end encrypted, and we’ve designed calling to work reliably around the world in different network conditions. The feature is currently rolling out on the iPhone and Android versions of our app.

Within the past couple years, individuals have enjoyed making video and voice calls WhatsApp. In actuality, our customers spend more than 2 billion minutes calls every day.”

You can make a group call with up to four people total – anytime and anywhere. Just start a one-on-one voice or video call and tap the new “add participant” button in the top right corner to add more contacts to the call.
